The Project: Dreamscape
Often, new ideas and ways of seeing things change our lives and the
way we think. This is what happened when a psychotherapist named Sigmund
Freud began listening to people tell him of their dreams. He thought that
there were things in peoples' memories and thoughts that they were not
aware of. These invisible thoughts he called the subconscious and the
surrealists tried to paint ideas from theirs. In this project we will try
to understand the paintings of the surrealists though our own art work. We
will also learn how to create the illusion of space in our work through
the use of two-point perspective while we practice our use of color and
techniques used with the colored pencil.
